Across the Top with Outback Vic
Join Vic as he revisits the Gulf Country. It has been 12 years since Vic conducted tours in this Region and a lot has changed and new places have been discovered. So join him on this relaxed itinerary as he explores all the fantastic places that makes this a very special part of Australia. A fitting way to celebrate 20 amazing years as one of Australia’s number one 4WD tag-along tour operators.
The trip starts in Karumba, cray fish capital of Australia, and follows the Savannah Way to Burketown, then we go down to Lawn Hill and Kingfisher Camp before continuing through Hell’s Gate and Wollogorang Station to Borroloola. From here we visit Cape Crawford and the Lost City and the remote but beautiful Poppies Pool. Then we continue across the top visiting more lost city rock formations, Lorella Station, Butterfly Springs and Roper Bar. From here we overnight at Mataranka Springs before visiting the Devils Marbles and then tackling the 4WD track through the Davenport Ranges. Crossing over the Sandover Hwy to the Plenty Hwy we traverse it to Boulia and overnight in Bedourie before heading home via Quilpie and Cunnamulla. Tour Fee includes, Camping and National Park Fees throughout the tour, entry to Cape Crawford and Lorella Springs Station, Hotel accommodation in Bedourie and Bourke.
Note optional tour fees apply to Lost City Helicopter flights $380 per person plus access to Poppies Pool $100 per person.
Basic Requirements For This Tour
The 4WD
Suitable to 4WDrives with high and low range.
Your 4WD should have recovery points located at the front and rear
We recommend heavy duty springs and shock absorbers and a Cargo Barrier
Fuel
You will need to carry 140 litre of diesel or 200 litres of petrol (this includes your fuel tank)
Spares/equipment
A UHF radio – we can hire you a radio
Carry a snatch strap and rated shackles (see our shop if you need recovery equipment)
Spare Fan belts, fuel filter, oil and brake fluid, 1 extra spare tyre
Driver experience
Prior experience not necessary as we will assist you as we go or you might consider attending our driver training course. - Do you require Driver Training?
Food
This is a self catered tour, bring your own food and drink requirements, we supply a gas BBQ for your use in camp.
Camping gear
You need to supply your own camping gear, this is a camping tour there is no accommodation option. Carry warm clothing at all times.
Facilities
There are pit toilets and showers at some of our camp sites, our guide vehicle is equipped with a shower for your use
