On 20 August 2010 it is 150 years since Burke & Wills set out from Melbourne on their ill fated journey to the Gulf of Carpentaria. Whilst many say this expedition finished in failure, these brave men did cross the continent from Melbourne to the Gulf and opened up vast tracts of outback Australia. In fact, the very country through which they trekked is the same country that Great Divide Tours has been exploring. The year 2010 also sees Great Divide Tours celebrate 20 years in the business of exploring outback Australia. So to celebrate both of these amazing milestones you are invited to join us on an epic journey as we follow In The Footsteps of Burke and Wills.

We will travel from Melbourne’s Royal Park where Burke & Wills started their Expedition and retrace their footsteps via Bendigo, Swan Hill, Mungo National Park, Menindee, Mutawintji, Warri Gate, the Dig Tree, Innamincka, Birdsville, Boulia, Cloncurry all the way to Camp 119 near Normanton.
